Metal Fatigue was founded by Sarge, who gave his appellation to the studio and poured his extensive knowledge and experience into the business. Sarge was, and still is, a renowned name in the body modification community across the globe. He was known for his alternative lifestyle, his unique dress sense and character. An early follower of the goth subculture, Sarge began practising body piercing at a time when it was considered an underground and non-conventional form of body modification. Unknowingly, he helped inspire young people interested in goth culture express themselves through piercings and personal image. A professional for close to 30 years, Sarge was constantly evolving his knowledge and techniques. He studied and respected the origins of body modification, and he was also at the forefront of helping shift body piercing from a niche market into a mainstream business.

Metal Fatigue started trading in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth in 2002, in collaboration with Paradox. Our piercer AJ took apprenticeship with Sarge, and has remained a member of the team ever since. A reference in the body piercing community and industry, Metal Fatigue works to the highest standards of hygiene and customer service. We pride ourselves in being the only dedicated Body Piercing Clinic in Bournemouth; with the trust of our longstanding loyal customers and new ones alike, we intend to uphold a legacy that started over 20 years ago.

I have been in and around the piercing industry now for over 20 years, I was lucky enough to be offered an apprenticeship with Sarge of Metal Fatigue in Bournemouth.

I served what compared to today’s standards as a lengthy apprenticeship. After about 18 months considered myself a body piercer and it wasn’t until we moved premises and applied for my registration certificate to pierce by the local council did I consider myself Professional. I learnt a great deal working with Sarge not just about working with skin and needles but human anatomy and behaviour.
I pride myself in my ability to read the situation I’m working in whether it be a first time nervous newbie or a seasoned veteran. Working swiftly, efficiently and confident with my needles.

I would like to think I have kept up with evolving techniques and practices so far and hope to keep my game up by staying professional and true to my apprenticeship by keeping good ethos and ethics in the way I pierce and advise..
